After several years of successful selling the company I was working for was sold. We, the sales reps, were being terminated. Years of work and commissions were going to be lost and I was angry. The “new” owners were the same as the old owners with a new company name and a different CEO. It was legal and they were able to keep all of the customers accounts because when we were hired the agreement said that all accounts that we submitted would become property of the company. I knew that I just got screwed. Years of building relationships and commissions were lost. I was not permitted to solicit my accounts because it was in the employment agreement and they would sue if I violated it. I was out of work, couldn’t contact my customers or work in the industry as a sales rep for two years.
This was never going to happen to me again. That’s why I created the Co-op. I’m not violating any terms of my previous BAD employment agreement. I was an independent contractor and couldn’t solicit any established customers. DON’T SIGN AN AGREEMENT THAT TAKES AWAY YOUR ABILITY TO KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS OR EARN COMMISSIONS!
I created the Merchant Services Co-op so that what happened to me doesn’t happen to anyone else. As a Co-op member every sales rep has a say in how the company grows. Co-op sales reps always own their customers and accounts. You can grow and grow your income to unbelievable levels because you can’t get fired, laid off, or suspended. Think of how much you can earn growing your accounts for 10, 20 or 30 years!
